Making Handmade natural and organic soaps (goats milk and glycerin “soap” making)

www.thingsfromhomeinc.com Please enjoy this first of 5 videos that show you the process of “making soap” by hand in your kitchen out of the finest all natural and organic ingredients. The soap maker featured in this video is Mickey Dye-Ishikawa of Asheville “North Carolina”. Mickey has been working in the “health food” industry for 12 years, and has been making artisan handmade soaps for the past 4 years or more! Her products are unique in a craft (soap making) where anyone can buy the basic raw material to make soap. While many of the well known “handmade soap” companies out there make good products, many of them also cut corners by using inferior ingredients in the name of cutting costs to mass produce their products. Mickey believes that everyone SHOULD be able to use soaps that are made only with the highest quality natural and organic ingredients available, so thats exactly what she uses to make her soaps! This video series about Mickey Dye-Ishikawa and her handmade soaps, and her company “Things From Home, inc” is a “joint venture” project between her and (Robert Bankston) of “The Method Reports, llc” where they are working together to “increase her sales” online using the techniques of the “Video Marketing” program written by Robert early this year, “The Youtube Marketing Course”. Video Marketing is the fastest growing way for small and large businesses alike to increase their reach and boost sales and traffic to their websites for FREE. It takes alot more than

    i have a question: is it possible to make soap without lye?

  2. HandmadeSoaps says:

    No, it isn’t. Not anyway that I am aware of. Let me know if you run across one.

    hmmm…. this part is confusing to me? why does the soap need to cure if it’s melt and pour? i thought only cold process soap needed to cure to finish out the chemical reaction. it doesn’t seem like there would be a chemical reaction in this process… just melting. does that kind of make sense, or am i misunderstanding it?

  4. HandmadeSoaps says:

    the curing time that i give my soap is because of the ingredients that I add. it isn’t to finish out a chemical reaction. Adding the amount of great moisturizing ingredients and goatsmilk makes a better soap if it is allowed to cure again. it is like making it from the beginning all over again.

    I don’t get it. How can it be both totally hand made in your kitchen AND made from a base you purchase in 50# boxes?

  6. HandmadeSoaps says:

    Totally is not a word I used. I take a simple all natural base and begin there with more great ingredients added after that than you will find in any soap.

    I think you have a great idea in the way you make your soap. If someone is afraid of working with lye this might be a good way for them to make soap too.. Keep up the good work and may God Bless you business.

  17. nmayangicooks says:

    Are you using just plain solid vegetable glycerin. Or a vegetable glycerin soap base with lye in it? My sister is allergic to lye and I wanted to know if you put that in your soaps.

  18. HandmadeSoaps says:

    @nmayangicooks
    Lye is the beginning process for all soap. Glycerin is the bi-product of saponification of lye, water and oils. The oils are vegetable and the only animal in my soaps is from the goatsmilk.

  19. msanjanetta says:

    @HandmadeSoaps You still really haven’t answered her question.. are you using vegetable glycerin or vege glycerin soap base. Thanks
